About Us

Samanti Education and Rural Development Foundation (SERD Foundation) is a charitable trust founded by Dr. Kalmesh S. Mudekkanavar, with a mission to empower rural communities through Education, Self-reliance, and Inclusive development. The Foundation promotes Self-Help Groups (SHGs) on the lines of Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) and facilitates access to infrastructure and micro-credit to improve livelihoods in rural areas.

SERD Foundation works towards holistic rural development by implementing community-based programs across various districts of Karnataka. Its initiatives focus on women empowerment, skill development, financial inclusion, and sustainable livelihood creation. The strength of the Foundation lies in its dedicated team, strong community participation, and the trust of stakeholders.

Registered under the Karnataka Co-Operative Act of 1960, SERD Foundation actively supports the transfer of technology, capacity building, and financial empowerment through micro-credit and SHG movements. Special emphasis is placed on empowering rural women and youth through awareness programs, leadership development, and income-generating activities.

In its early phase, the Foundation extended material and developmental support to rural families and adopted community-driven planning at the village level. Learning from experience, SERD Foundation evolved from a charity-based approach to a self-help model that promotes long-term sustainability and financial discipline.

SERD Foundation also contributes to financial inclusion by supporting access to banking and development-linked financial services in rural and underserved areas. Through training centers and capacity-building initiatives, the Foundation offers free skill development programs and serves as a knowledge resource in SHG movement, microfinance, and rural development across Karnataka.
